At my recent annual Fourth of July
~~drug and alcohol orgy~~ cookout, we got into a very interesting and deep conversation on media fueled stereotypes. Specifically, how certain TV shows reached iconic statuses supporting stereotypes. No other show during the late 70's and early 80's substantiated the the "dumb blonde" stereotype greater or with more zeal than Three's Company. To the point that they couldn't even introduce a blonde character onto the show that wasn't stupid, un-coordinated or goofy as bat shit. By the time Priscilla Barnes came to the show, she couldn't dummy down herself enough for the American audience and the ratings fell faster than the panties on a two dollar whore at a truck stop.

I personally don't care. I wanted to be hot and desired like Suzanne Somers, long legged like Jennilee Harrison, and disgustingly cute as Priscilla Barnes. When I used to watch the Three's Company re-runs on TV my greatest wish as a little girl was to be a combination of all three. My second greatest wish was of course to have sex with all three of them but that wasn't until I started singing on the church choir and fingered the deacon's daughter. Did I mention she was a blonde?
